Additionally, the actress revealed that she’s never actually seen Wanda as a superhero, giving us an estimate of the chances of us seeing her sisters, the Olsen twins from ‘Full House’, as Wanda variants see from other universes.

We also spoke to Benedict Cumberbatch in the Doctor Strange 2 interview. The actor also gives us his take on who would win the fight between Strange and Wanda. He also talks about the ending of “Spider-Man: No Way Home”. In our film review of “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” you can find out how we rate the film!

Elizabeth Olsen made her debut as Wanda Maximoff in the Marvel film Avengers: Age of Ultron. At the time she was an antagonist to the Avengers, but later in the film she switched sides. Since then she has become a hero and part of the Avengers. But Olsen sees this somewhat differently.

“I wouldn’t even say she was ever a hero. She had heroic moments in fights and stuff, but she never really fought for the greater good, it was more for personal reasons. In ‘Age of Ultron’ she changes roles sides, but it was just a matter of perspective. That’s the only reason for her change of heart, because then she has more information about her country.”

What Olsen likes most about her role is that Wanda “cannot be pigeonholed like good and evil”. Olsen describes Wanda as “free spirit” and “independent”, but that also makes her “feel incredibly lonely”. What makes Wanda stand out is that she is relatable.

“Even if we don’t agree with her, we can understand why she makes the decisions she does. I think it’s important for us as human beings to empathize with others. You may disagree, but you understand ‘why’.”

The actress does not reveal what decisions Wanda will make in “Doctor Strange 2”. It is also not mentioned whether she will become Doctor Strange’s antagonist. But she reveals that Wanda addresses the “hypocrisy” of superheroes: “I think there’s a lot of hypocrisy in all these superhero movies and she’s not afraid to put her finger in the wound.”

There is already a striking scene in the trailer in which Wanda Strange addresses the fact that heroes and villains are basically very similar: “If you break the rules, you’re the hero. If I do, I’m the enemy. It’s kind of unfair .” We’re excited to see how this dynamic unfolds in the film.

A Battle of the Marvel Giants: Doctor Strange vs. Scarlet Witch

Olsen’s statements strongly suggest some disagreement between Wanda and Doctor Strange. She does not reveal whether there will be a fight. Hypothetically, though, she tells us who would win a slugfest: “I think Wanda can beat anyone. She’s her own worst enemy.”

The Marvel star even goes one step further: “I think she’s the most powerful in the MCU.” Whether she will be right about that, we will probably only find out in the cinema. Doctor Strange actor Benedict Cumberbatch definitely wouldn’t sign it like that.

“Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” will start in German cinemas on May 4, 2022. The following month, Marvel fans can look forward to the Disney+ series “Ms. Marvel”. You can find out what happens next in our overview of the new Marvel releases!
