Even fans of the modern series, which aired between 2005 and 2023, will have difficulty placing Susan — and may even be surprised to learn that he has a granddaughter, as there are so few references to her (she is briefly mentioned in season 7 and her image is briefly shown twice on screen). And for good reason, this character is present in the series… in 1963-64 only.
Her full name is Susan Foreman, but it was a pseudonym: she is a “Time Lady”, of the same species as the Doctor, the Time Lords. She appears in the very first episode in the history of the series, and she is even its first traveling companion – over two seasons. She leaves the TARDIS after an encounter on Earth, where she fell in love with a resistance fighter against a Dalek invasion. We are then in the year 2164, where she will decide to stay.
