Doctors should get in earlier: Müller calls for new vaccination regulations

Müller calls for new vaccination regulations

In order to increase the speed of the vaccinations, Berlin's Governing Mayor Müller wants to include medical practices. The federal government should act this week and adjust the vaccination ordinance and clarify the remuneration.

Berlin's governing mayor Michael Müller has called for an immediate change to the vaccination ordinance. "Especially against the background of the increasing number of infections we must not lose any more time," said the SPD politician to the "Tagesspiegel".

The federal government should adjust the vaccination ordinance "this week" if possible, "so that medical practices can offer vaccinations earlier, especially for the chronically ill". The change should apply nationwide, said Müller, who is the chairman of the conference of prime ministers.

Remuneration should be regulated quickly

Müller also demanded that compensation rules for corona vaccinations should now be quickly established. "That would make it considerably easier for us to bring around 500 voluntary medical practices into the vaccination process in the short term through an agreement with the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians."

The Berlin Senate Administration had already spoken to the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians "days ago". "In May at the latest, but better in April, corona vaccinations must be part of the normal health insurance benefits in the doctor's office anyway," said Müller.

Söder: Astrazeneca also from general practitioners

The Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder is also calling for a new corona vaccination concept. In April at the latest, when more vaccine comes, every dose must be administered "wherever possible," said Söder at an online press conference with his Saxon colleague Michael Kretschmer.

Therefore one has to "change the system": The Astrazeneca vaccine should be administered in addition to the vaccination centers by general practitioners, company doctors and school doctors. A quick change to the federal vaccination ordinance is therefore needed.
