Does EA believe it can save Battlefield 2042 by adding beards?

Still struggling, the Electronic Arts game Battlefield 2042 received a new update to bring additional fixes. And add beards to all the male characters in the game.

Since the chaotic launch of Battlefield 2042, on June 9, the game is awash in criticism. Many gamers blame Electronic Arts’ game for recurring bugs and glitches. As a result, many people stopped playing it – probably judging that it was doomed to failure, and that it was probably just a mistake on the path for the American firm of Trip Hawkins.

However, Electronic Arts continues to hope to change the minds of its players. Moreover, a new patch was deployed on August 1, 2022, and as Kotaku notes, the American firm has made some unexpected visual changes. This is particularly the case for his male characters, who have taken on a few wrinkles and had a remarkable growth of beards, worthy of a Robinson Crusoe.

The characters of Battlefield 2042 grow old and change

Dice studio head Rebecka Coutaz’s latest words raised hopes of a phoenix-like rebirth for fans of the franchise and the game Battlefield 2042. Will this new update do the same? For the moment, it seems not.

This new patch which was deployed on August 1, 2022 mainly aims to fix various bugs in the game. In addition, there is a new statistics page which will allow players to follow their KDA ratio (number of kills, deaths and assists obtained during the game).

As the Kotaku site mentions, the specialists, a class of soldiers present in Battlefield 2042, were already the subject of criticism. These characters have often been compared to the heroes of EA’s other game: Apex Legends (of which you can read our test). Some traits and characters would presumably be the same between characters in both games. To solve this problem, Electronic Arts decided to change some physical traits on its characters, and make them a little more appropriate for the game — now they will look more tired and dirty. And as for the specialist soldiers, they had to be given a beard, or increased in size if they already had one.
