With its new mobile operating system, Apple introduces a little more customization and flexibility in use, recalling in passing what Google offers with Android.

While iOS has been widely adopted by hundreds of millions of users around the world, recurring criticisms of its rigidity have continued to pour in.

Apple is evolving and starting to listen to what its customers want

With iOS 16, Apple seems to be following the path set by Google with Android and giving users a more personal experience. This is reflected in particular by the home screen of the iPhone which, this year, can be completely modified, both in terms of the font and the colors displayed.

We can also note the appearance of widgets on the screen to access at a glance a quantity of information from his favorite applications. iOS 16 will finally introduce Live Actions, enriched notifications updated in real time to follow the score of a sports meeting or the arrival of your VTC without having to access an application.

In this sense, the Apple firm adopts a philosophy similar to that of Android which, for years, has given users the keys to personalize their experience as closely as possible to their expectations or their tastes. However, Apple will not go that far, and these tools, however rich, quickly have their limits. No question of installing any typography or placing widgets wherever we want to create chaos on the screen.

Additional options to get more from your iPhone without degrading the experience

This paradigm shift isn’t just cosmetic, and Apple is working to bring its new features to third-party developers.

Concentration mode can now be used to filter content in an application, and publishers will have an API at their disposal to integrate this new behavior into their software. Same for the next collaboration mode, which will allow users to quickly start a group video call and work live on a text document or presentation. It will not be reserved only for office applications of the brand.

Finally Apple is working with iOS 16 to answer (well, some would say) some of the most insistent requests from users. Among them is the ability to remove more system apps to replace them with third-party software, or long-awaited options like the ability to edit or delete a message in iMessage.

Apple therefore does not copy Android and remains in control by offering a user experience controlled by itself. But the brand still adopts the philosophy. To do this, it adapts to its different audiences and offers options for power users who will be able to get more from their smartphone, without compromising the simplicity of the whole, acclaimed by the general public. An iOS 16 for everyone and an iOS 16 for everyone, in short.
