Biden takes aim at Trump on talk show

In an interview, Joe Biden is confronted with Americans’ concerns about his old age. The US President nonchalantly refers to his competitor Trump: “The other guy” can’t remember his own wife’s name. But the Democrat also makes jokes about himself.
In a TV interview, US President Joe Biden once again rejected concerns about his old age and sharply attacked his predecessor Donald Trump. “Look at the other guy,” Biden said of his 77-year-old opponent on comedian Seth Meyers’ talk show. “He’s about the same age as me, but he can’t remember his wife’s name,” Biden explained, earning a reward Laughter and applause from the audience. The 81-year-old Biden was referring to a video shown earlier in the program in which Trump apparently calls his wife Melania “Mercedes”.
Meyers, who frequently makes jokes at Trump’s expense on his popular NBC show, had previously said Biden’s advanced age was “a real problem for American voters.” Biden emphasized that it’s about “how old your ideas are.” Trump wants to take the country back to the time before Roe v. Bring Wade back, he said, referring to the 1973 ruling that established a constitutional, nationwide right to abortion.
A year and a half ago, the very conservative US Supreme Court ruled by Trump overturned the right to abortion. Since then, the right to abortion is no longer enshrined in the Constitution and the decision rests with the states. Some of them have adopted extremely strict regulations.
Jokes about misfires
When he entered the stage, Biden also took aim at himself by initially acting as if he had lost his way. The oldest president in US history recently came under fire for several misfires. In the presidential election on November 5th, another duel between Biden and Trump is looming.
After the broadcast was recorded, Biden, accompanied by Meyer, ate ice cream in a New York ice cream parlor. When asked by a journalist, he commented on a possible ceasefire in Gaza. “My hope is that we have a ceasefire by next Monday.” At the same time, the US President emphasized that there was still no agreement.
