DOFUS 2.64: Overhaul of Temporal Anomalies and Legendary Pets


Since its announcement at Krosmonote 2021, the Anomalies Rework was somewhat forgotten. First axis of the year, the latter was relegated behind the Kolossium, the classes or the redesign of Ocher. However, this big update attacks a core mechanic of Dofus: the drop. Moreover, this will not be spared further in time, beyond the patch 2.64.

DOFUS: Update 2.64 will bring a complete overhaul of Temporal Anomalies

The Temporal Anomalies weren’t a failure, but they didn’t work. Arrivals spring 2019 with the island of Pwak, the latter failed to fulfill their objectives. Worse, they quickly became frustrating for a good part of the players, not to mention the legendary pets. The lack of interest was enormous, while the basic proposal remained interesting, with a quasi system of runes for zone farming.

What will change with Dofus 2.64

The objectives for this Dofus update are great. Temporal Anomalies need to get better to ensure an enjoyable and engaging experience. The team plans to turn them into “ opportunities to seize“. These will be temporary boosts to be taken or not in the zones rather than obstacles to the drop. However, they will always favor the originality of the choice, with a similar concept.

TL;DR

the devblog of the Dofus team is quite long. As this article separates future additions around drop into a side topic, we’ll give you a quick recap of the changes before explaining them.

  • The bonus-penalties go to 0-90%, positives only, with natural increase. Anomalies now spawn at 90%. There is no longer a per-map system and dungeons are now included in zones.
  • The activation of an anomaly increases to 2 hours, with unlimited fights and a bonus of 150% xp/fixed drop in the area. Guardians spend 200, with adaptation of related quests.
  • The Uchronic Elixir is UP, with 3 variants, to give you drop and experience bonuses over a specific period. Monsters, however, receive boosts.
  • Monsters now aggro regardless of your level (with the new system) if an anomaly is active. A potion is added to prevent this.

A penalty, really?

You will no longer find areas with penalties from 2.64. The interval now changes from +0 to +90%. This bonus increases naturally but the process speeds up if players carry out fights. Thus, if there are no more malus, there will always be a big difference in experience between the zones.

In order to bring more readability to the system, the team removes the bonus per card. If this made it possible to better privilege unknown or inaccessible areas, the system was not well displayed. We imagine that an ergonomic improvement would suffice, but the choice was made here to remove everything.

Anomaly triggering

The activation duration of an anomaly is now 2 hours, with no possible reduction. Indeed, the fights will be possible in unlimited. To compensate, they spend all at level 200, regardless of the area. Obviously, it is likely that the related quests (Eliocalypse mainly) will be adapted.

Rest assured, the inhabitants will no longer have a characteristic bonus as before. This is related to a redesign of theUchronic Elixir. It now splits into 3 Normal/Enhanced/Major consumables. These improve your XP/DROP rate in an area and against the guardian of its anomaly. Only then will monsters gain stats.

An exploitable area bonus

In addition to the potions, an area under Temporal Anomaly will have a 150% XP/DROP bonus for the duration of the event extended by an additional 30 minutes. At the end, the bonus naturally returns to 0%. In return, everything will be hostile to you.

Thus, the monsters will become aggressive, regardless of your level. Fortunately, Ankama has provided player feedback. The Dofus team will therefore introduce a ” Regrowth Potion“, avoiding bad encounters.

What about legendary pets?

As everyone knows, the cost of enhancing legendary pets was too high. So much so that for a very long time, this feature was forgotten by the majority. It has only been able to resurface recently, with the accumulation on servers and commerce. The Access conditions are therefore improved. As a result, you can more easily create Familiars with the correct bonus!

  • The criteria for obtaining the “Time Loop” and “Timeless Loop” resources have been removed.
  • The Legend/Relic of Bébémoth now exclusively drops against Anomaly guardians. The Uchronic Elixir increases its drop rate.
  • It is now possible to obtain a pet’s legendary power in the form of an exchangeable item, each containing one of the legendary powers at random (bwork-infused kibble, arakne-infused kibble, etc.)
  • A legendary pet now requires level 200
  • The “Time Loop” and “Timeless Loop” no longer have a criterion for obtaining
  • Modification of many recipes.

The first step in a major drop overhaul

Update 2.64 will be the first of a small band to present a deep alteration of the drop system on Dofus. From prospecting to idols to bonuses from the Almanax or anomalies, going to collect loot will evolve considerably in the coming months. And you have your say.

Dofus 2.64, when is it coming out?

The devblogs arrive this time very early compared to the update, as during the revamp of the Ocher quest. It will therefore be necessary to be patient before the arrival in beta, then on classic servers. Assuming on previous years, Dofus 2.64 should appear during the summer, around June/July. The exact release date remains unknown.
