DOFUS: Server maintenance, opening hours, bugs and queues, patches

Every Tuesday since the dawn of time, Dofus undergoes weekly maintenance in the morning. These are very important for the game, fixing bugs. Discover every week on this article the opening hours of the servers. Be careful, they are sometimes exceptional!

Dofus – Server maintenance, opening hours

The next weekly Dofus maintenance will take place the Tuesday, August 16 from 8 a.m. For an undetermined time. It will be accompanied by the maintenance of the shops.

And on the DOFUS Touch side?

For the mobile version of the game, the next maintenance will also take place this Tuesday, August 16, 2022 from 8 a.m. A beta of the future version of Dofus Touch is also available.

What is maintenance on Dofus?

Maintenances are processes that take place on Tuesday mornings (usually 8 a.m.) allowing Dofus servers to take a break. This applies via the complete preservation of character data, the fixing of certain bugs, the transfer between servers or even the application of an update. Patches are regularly deployed.

Dofus Maintenance – Tuesday Bug Hunt

This phase is very important to guarantee a stable gaming experience, with the main cost of not being able to connect. Sometimes maintenance lasts beyond noon. In these cases, the Dofus team monitors and announces the opening time as soon as testers have been able to confirm that the servers are operational. Indeed, the slightest duplication or character deletion bug can seriously damage the game.

Why Tuesday morning? Quite simply because it is the time period with the fewest players, both in France and in other countries, and has been for several years. In parallel with the weekly maintenance, backups are made at certain times to complete the backup of game data:

  • 12:00 a.m. and 1:30 a.m.
  • 6:00 a.m. and 7:30 a.m.
  • 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
  • 4:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

A few questions about maintenance and backups on Dofus

Why are maintenances longer on Dofus 2 than on Retro?

Dofus 2 has many more servers and in-game elements than version 1, so there are more features and data to monitor. As the servers are also older (Retro in 2019, Retro Monocompte in 2020, Eratz and Henual are less populated), everything takes longer to browse.

Why do backups last so long on Meriana or Ush for example?

The older a server, the more data there is. And it is also correlated to the active population. There are many types of items to save, perhaps the worst of which are Mount Certificates. Because yes, if they have a validity limit, it is to lighten the servers. Also, there are many more “Ghost” characters, inactive but needing to be stored. Mériana is thus a server resulting from the merger of some of the oldest servers in the game (the first in particular, Jiva). For Ush, this can be explained by its very active population.

What / What has Ankama done to combat this phenomenon ?

For several years, Ankama has drastically improved the maintenance conditions on Dofus. The team tries to communicate as much as possible on social networks. It can also give compensation if the time is deemed too long (>10 hours)

Mergers in 2017 decreased the number of servers, therefore reducing maintenance time. Previously, some phantom accounts were deleted (only if he had never had a subscription or a store purchase).

How to follow the progress of a maintenance on Dofus?

You can find the latest news on game maintenance via this article or by following the official accounts on Twitter, listed in the article below.

But really, why is it taking so long?

Dofus is an ancestor among online games, and is not the only one to do such maintenance. An MMO associates for each of its elements and players thousands and thousands of data, and none of them should be lost. In addition, in the event of a patch, you must also check that no bug has appeared since the Ankama (internal) or beta version. Flash, the game’s soon-to-be-redesigned engine, has its whims and sometimes turns out to be… unpredictable.

Besides some slightly aggressive dinosaurs, that’s all we found for today about Dofus bugs, Dofus maintenances, Dofus queues, and… no, that’s already enough for one game !
