Dolly Parton is considered one of the greatest country legends in the world. Now she wants to bring her life to the stage in a Broadway musical.

In her career, country singer Dolly Parton (78) not only delighted her fans with hits like “Jolene” and “Islands in the Stream”, but also broke several world records. In total, she secured ten entries in the Guinness Book of Records, including for the most number one hits by a female artist in the US Hot Country Songs.

But in addition to these musical successes, the singer also has other stories to tell from her life. As Parton announced on June 6, on Instagram and at the music festival “CMA Fest” in her hometown of Nashville, she wants to bring these stories to the stage in a musical on Broadway.

The autobiographical musical will be titled “Hello, I’m Dolly” in reference to her debut album from 1967 and will be released in 2026.

“You will get to know my whole life so far”

In Nashville, the singer was delighted to be able to “finally” realize the project that had been planned for a long time. “I’m really excited about it,” said the American country music national heroine on the stage of the Music City Center. “You’re going to get to know my whole life so far – and it’s not going to be a jukebox musical,” said Parton.

“It will really be a grand old opera”

She has written many new songs for the musical, but of course her already well-known classics will also be included. “You will laugh, you will cry, you will clap and you will stomp. It really will be a big old opera,” she promised.
