Domestic violence – woman imprisoned, son threatened: arrests in Vienna

Violent arguments and violence within one’s own four walls ensured that the Viennese police had to move out twice on Monday and arrest two men. In one case, jealousy caused a frenzy: a 28-year-old in Vienna-Alsergrund suspected his wife (27) of having a relationship with his father (49). And in Mariahilf, a 49-year-old threatened to kill his son (18) because he had behaved disrespectfully towards him.

The 28-year-old was sure that his wife had a panther with his father. “I’ll kill you both!” Threatened the North Macedonian. She desperately denied the alleged relationship. Furious with jealousy, he took the 27-year-old’s key and cell phone on Monday and locked her in the apartment near Nussdorfer Strasse.

After a few hours, the woman managed to briefly leave the four walls under a pretext. In doing so, she managed to alert the police. The 28-year-old was provisionally arrested by the officers and a ban on entering and approaching him was issued.

Whole family insulted, slapped, pulled the hair
Shortly afterwards, the police had to go to Mariahilf for another domestic violence case. In the course of a dispute, a 49-year-old Syrian allegedly threatened his 18-year-old son with killing. The son, who in the opinion of the father had behaved disrespectfully, then notified the police.

When the officials clarified the matter, the other members of the refugee family stated that the father had repeatedly exercised violence against the entire family over the years. He is said to have insulted, slapped and pulled the hair of the wife and six children between the ages of eight and 18.

The 49-year-old was provisionally arrested and banned from entering and approaching him. After the police interrogation, the suspect was brought to a prison by order of the Vienna Public Prosecutor’s Office.
