Donald Trump has been among the 400 richest Americans for 25 years. But now Forbes has kicked him off the list.

The business magazine “Forbes” has once again published its list of the 400 richest Americans. For the first time in 25 years, you will look in vain for a name there: that of ex-President Donald Trump (75). Its assets are currently estimated at just 2.5 billion dollars (around 2.2 billion euros). According to the information, this is around $ 400 million too little for the list. Last year, Trump still made it to 339th place.

The reasons for the decline in assets would primarily lie in the corona pandemic. The former construction mogul suffered mainly from stagnating real estate prices in large cities. Due to the crisis, his hotels and casinos are also said to have made significantly fewer profits than they did before the Corona times. Overall, his fortune shrank by $ 600 million last year.

Amazon boss Jeff Bezos tops the list

His decline in the “Forbes” list began in 2016, the year he was elected. Since 1996 he has been part of the richest 400 Americans without interruption, from 1997 to 2016 he even held a place in the top 200. In 2015 he had its wealth peak to date with an estimated 4.5 billion dollars (approx. 3.9 billion euros) achieved.

By the way: Amazon boss Jeff Bezos (57) topped the list with assets of 201 billion dollars. Followed by Tesla boss Elon Musk (50, 190.5 billion), Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg (37, 134.5 billion) and Microsoft mastermind Bill Gates (65, 134.5 billion)
