Donald Trump: Facebook and Twitter have tough consequences

US President Donald Trump claims children are "almost immune" to the corona virus. Facebook and Twitter, on the other hand, are cracking down.

In the past weeks and months, US President Donald Trump (74) has spread a lot about the corona virus, including half-truths and even untruths. In an interview with his favorite Fox News channel, Trump recently claimed that children are "almost immune" to the corona virus. A video clip of it ended up on social media. Facebook and Twitter are surprisingly tough on it.

"Harmful Covid misinformation"

Facebook has deleted the corresponding video on Trump's page. The US company of Mark Zuckerberg (36) justified its actions on Wednesday evening (local time, August 5th) with the fact that the video contained "false claims". It is a "harmful Covid misinformation" that violates the Facebook guidelines.

Trump's favorite social media platform, Twitter, went one step further. As the US media report, the official account of his campaign team was temporarily completely blocked. "The account holder must remove the tweet before tweeting again," said a statement. Trump's campaign team appears to have deleted the video as the account can again post tweets.

Recently, Facebook and Twitter have increasingly taken action against posts made by and around Trump. Appropriate notices were added to several postings. These ranged from Covid-19 to the ongoing protests in the country and the elections.
