The largest US drama union has had enough of Donald Trump and is launching an expulsion process against him.

Long-time allies, his house bank and now the leading US drama and television union? More and more people and institutions are turning away from the outgoing US President Donald Trump (74) after the storm on the Capitol. As the usually well-informed US industry paper "Deadline" reports, the "Screen Actors Guild & American Federation of Television" (SAG-AFTRA) is considering kicking Trump out. If that happened, Trump would no longer be able to appear on his beloved casting show "The Apprentice".

Accordingly, the national board of SAG-AFTRA called an emergency meeting for Tuesday (January 19) to discuss Trump's eviction. A two-thirds majority is necessary for this. However, that would only be a starting signal for a possible exclusion process. The whole process takes several weeks and would also include a hearing to bring the allegations against Trump.

According to the statutes, a member can be expelled if he is involved in activities that are contrary to the interests or the integrity of the union.

Trump has been a member of the two unions that merged in 2012 since 1989. In addition to actors, it also includes numerous (TV) journalists. SAG-AFTRA is considered apolitical and usually does not comment on political events. Still, the union has criticized Trump in the past for saying that the news media are enemies of the American people.
