Donald Trump: memorial service for brother to take place in the White House

US President Donald Trump wants to hold a funeral service for his late brother Robert in the White House – an extremely rare act.

US President Donald Trump (74) will hold a funeral service for his late brother Robert (1948-2020) in the White House. This is reported, among other things, by the US news site "ABC News". Robert Trump died in New York on August 15 at the age of 71.

Funeral services for a private individual in the White House are rare

200 guests should be invited to the ceremony. Trump is said to pay privately for the costs. Robert Trump's body is transferred from New York to Washington for the funeral service. The last time a deceased was brought to the White House for a memorial service was in 1963, when John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) was brought to the US President's seat of government after the fatal assassination attempt on him.

It has been even longer since a private individual's human remains were brought to the White House for a funeral. In 1936 a memorial service was held there for Louis Howe (1871-1936), an adviser to President Franklin D. Roosevelt (1882-1945) and his wife Eleanor Roosevelt (1884-1962).

Robert Trump was the youngest member of the Trump siblings, which in addition to Donald Trump also includes Maryanne Trump Barry (83), Fred Trump Jr. (1938-1981) and Elizabeth Trump Grau (78). He used to work as a manager in his brother's group of companies.
