The YouTube video platform announced on Friday that it had ended the suspension of Donald Trump’s channel, which has a new communication weapon.

After Twitter as well as his Facebook and Instagram accounts, Donald Trump sees a new renowned social platform reopening its doors to him. And here it is… YouTube, the second most visited site in the world after Google and ahead of the thumbs up. Two years after being excluded from the video platform, the ex-president, who aims to win back the White House, has a new trump up his sleeve. However, he has not yet decided to take advantage of it.

Two years later, Donald Trump can again publish on YouTube…

Starting today, Donald J. Trump’s channel is no longer subject to restrictions “Wrote YouTube on its Twitter account this Friday, March 17, thus ending a suspension decided in January 2021. This decision had been taken following the attack on Congress in Washington by supporters of Donald J. Trump, who had shaken up American democracy even while the former businessman was still in office.

Donald Trump’s YouTube channel, created in March 2015 as part of the start of his presidential campaign, still has 2.65 million subscribers and totals more than 830 million views.

On Twitter, YouTube explains that the former president can upload new content. The social platform specifies that it has “ carefully assessed the continued risk of violence “, while balancing, for voters, “ the chances (…) of hearing the main national candidates equally in the run-up to an election “. YouTube nevertheless warns that the channel will remain subject to its policies, ” like any other channel on YouTube “, which implies that Donald Trump will not really have the right to make mistakes.

…but not sure he wants or needs it, yet

The 76-year-old ex-president is therefore authorized to reuse the communication channels that he solicited without moderation under his presidency, having made social networks a pillar of his strategy.

The latter used it regularly to disseminate certain (false) information, which generated great politico-digital tensions, the former resident of the White House even going so far as to threaten, there was a time, to close the networks social.

For now, Donald Trump is keeping silent. The billionaire has yet to post any messages, videos or tweets on his found social media. He prefers to stick, for now, to his in-house social platform, Truth Social, launched last year.
