Donald Trump
Twitter account permanently blocked – this is how the celebrities react
Twitter has blocked Donald Trump's account. This news is received with relief, but also laughter, by the celebrities.
For Donald Trump (74) it is a hard blow: After supporters of the outgoing US President stormed the US Capitol, the short message service Twitter has now permanently blocked his account. With this, Trump is losing his most important and direct communication channel to his supporters. Numerous US celebrities welcome this step, but at the same time also ask: "Why only now?"
"Veep" star Julia Louis-Dreyfus (59) spoke to Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey (44) with her tweet even directly to: "Why the hell did it take so long, Jack?" Model Chrissy Teigen (35), has always been one of the most violent critics of Trump however full of glee and just post a long laugh.
"Thanks, Twitter!"
Actor Josh Gad (39, "Prakti.com") also spoke up: "Now we just have to take the nuclear codes from him and everything should be fine again", he tweeted. "Hulk" actors Mark Ruffalo (53) and Bette Midler (75) simply thanked them on Twitter.
"We made it!"
"Borat" actor Sacha Baron Cohen (49), who a few hours before Trump's expulsion from Twitter had called for him, wrote with relief: "Twitter has finally blocked Trump. We did it!" He later spoke of the "most important moment" in the history of social media in another tweet: "The world's largest platforms have thrown out the world's largest spreaders of lies, conspiracy theories and hatred", so Cohen continues.
Actress Jessica Alba (39) also welcomed Trump's expulsion, but at the same time demanded via Instagram that Trump and his cronies should be held accountable for being responsible for the riots in the Capitol.
