If you were thinking about installing the first version of Android 15 on your Pixel smartphone, you might want to think twice, since Google itself now no longer recommends downloading it.
Android 15 is now available in its first Developer Preview 1 version, but as its name suggests, this is primarily intended for developers, and not individuals. However, if you are eager to try it, you might want to wait a bit, because Google has temporarily suspended downloads of the first development version (DP1) of Android 15 due to a serious issue.
Indeed, shortly after deployment, Google discovered a problem with OTA (over-the-air) images of version DP1. Some users reported that after installing the update, they received a “Device is corrupted” message on their phone, rendering it unusable.

Google acknowledged the issue on the Android Developers site and said it was working on a solution. Waiting for, Google has temporarily disabled downloads of Android 15 DP1 OTA images and advised users not to download them. Google also suggested an alternative method to test the DP1 build, which involves flashing a factory image on the devices. However, this method requires unlocking the bootloader and wiping data, which may not be convenient or safe for some users.
Google did not give a timeline for resolving the issue and resuming downloads. As this is a preview and experimental version of Android 15, this news mainly affects developers who want to test their apps and features on the new operating system.
We can therefore only advise you toavoid installing Android 15 DP1 for now, and wait for Google to fix the problem and release a more stable and secure version. Android 15 DP1 isn’t worth risking your device and data, especially since the update so far doesn’t bring any features interesting enough to take that much of a risk.
