Don’t miss it on TV: This Marvel film answers an open-ended MCU question

Anything planned for Sunday evening? No, how about a date then? Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel still has time at 8:15 p.m. and would like to take you back to the 90s of the last century. Our TV tip also answers an important question of the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe).

The MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) is growing and growing. In the meantime, 28 films and several series have been released. The colorful world of comics has long been an integral part of our pop culture. Pro 7 is now broadcasting the 21st film in the ever-expanding film universe on Sunday, June 5, 2022 at 8:15 p.m – and “Captain Marvel” has it all.

Captain Marvel on Pro 7: Why is Nick Fury actually wearing an eye patch?

We cannot and do not want to tell the entire story of the MCU so far at this point. Only that much: Most of the film takes place in the 1990s, well before the events of Iron Man, the first part of the film series. We experience how the jet pilot Carol Danvers (played by Brie Larson) becomes the superheroine Captain Marvel, who then had her second appearance in the biggest finale of the series to date – “Avengers: Endgame”. But before that happens, a rejuvenated Samuel L. Jackson aka Nick Fury must earn his spurs and stand by the heroine.

To set the tone for the Captain Marvel trailer:

The film also answers the question of why Nick Fury has to wear this iconic eye patch later in his life. But that’s not all, we also find out how the Avengers initiative came about in the first place and what references there are to Top Gun. A little tip: Listen carefully to the name of the “cat”.

Recurrence date and alternatives

By the way: If you miss the date on Sunday on Pro 7, for the the broadcaster then repeats the broadcast on June 12 at 11 p.m. Don’t feel like advertising? Then you should get Disney+, as the streaming service is known to be the home of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (watch Disney+).

Alternatively, apart from Disney+, the film is also available to rent individually from Amazon for just under 4 euros or as a purchase download or on Blu-ray and Co. (view at Amazon).
