Accused Biden of sexual assault: woman shows up in Moscow

Tara Reade accuses current US President Biden of sexually assaulting her in 1993. Now she has traveled to Moscow and wants to apply for Russian citizenship. She feels safe there for the first time in a long time, says the 59-year-old.

A US woman who accused Joe Biden of sexual assault in 2020 has surfaced in Moscow in a bid to claim Russian citizenship. “I would like to apply to the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, for citizenship in Russia,” she said in an interview with the Russian state-controlled media company Sputnik.

Tara Reade, 59, said she initially only wanted to vacation in Russia. But a US representative from the Republican Party told her she was in danger. “As I got off the plane in Moscow, I felt safe for the first time in a long time, and I felt heard and respected,” Reade said in the interview. She sat next to the Russian Duma deputy Maria Butina, who was arrested in the USA in 2018 on allegations of espionage.

Reade accused current US President Biden of sexually assaulting her in a hallway of the US Congress in 1993 during the 2020 presidential campaign. Biden denied the allegation. In the interview, Reade said she had always loved Russia. “I don’t see Russia as an enemy, nor do many of my fellow Americans,” she said. Despite her request for Russian citizenship, she also wants to keep US citizenship.
