The mega mobile communications trade fair Mobile World Congress (MWC) is currently taking place in Barcelona and, in addition to cell phones, manufacturers are also showing many other products that are technically sophisticated and networked – including robotic lawnmowers.
At the trade fair, Husqvarna, a company known for this product category, will be presenting how the cult first-person shooter Doom from 1993 can be played on the display of the NERA robotic lawnmower.

Of course we didn’t miss this chance and visited the manufacturer’s stand on site to take a look at Doom and you can get a foretaste in the following video:
At MWC, Husqvarna announced that customers will be able to install the shooter on their compatible devices for a limited time from April to September 2024.
“It highlights the pioneering spirit of Husqvarna engineers and is also a tribute to the creator of Doom. The original id Software team consisted of some of the best developers of all time. What they created with Doom in 1993 was world class and formed the basis for many of today’s games. They are also a great inspiration for us at Husqvarna,” says Björn Mannefred, Robotics Software Engineer at Husqvarna.
If you just want to play Doom, you can buy the title for a few euros for PC or console. If you really want to have a robotic lawnmower from the NERA series, you have to budget for costs of at least 2,000 euros.
