First released in 1993, the game DOOM is now playable via a Raspberry Pi Pico.

Remember that the game signed id Software has been adapted to everything and anything for a few years.

DOOM on Raspberry Pi Pico, it’s possible!

In recent years, we have been able to see the game DOOM turn on a pregnancy test, on an e-reader or even within the game Minecraft
. But can the game signed id Software run on a small Raspberry Pi Pico at 4 euros? The answer is yes.

It was the American coder Graham Sanderson who had fun wearing DOOM on the Raspberry Pi Pico, obviously with a specific version (Chocolate Doom). In particular, the developer managed to compress (up to 57%) the 4 MB WAD file, to make it fit on the 2 MB of the microcontroller.

The game is displayed in 1,280 x 1,024 pixels via a VGA output and therefore allows you to (re) reconnect with this founding FPS of the genre. It remains to be seen now what will be the next support to be hosted DOOMwhich will celebrate next year (December 10, 2023 to be exact) its 30th anniversary.
