After Kawasaki presented its first purely electric series motorcycle, which was rather disappointing in terms of technical data, the next innovation is now ready. The Japanese manufacturer presents the world’s first series hybrid motorcycle with the Ninja 7 Hybrid.

In the automotive sector, hybrid models are on the decline. Fully electric models are gradually overtaking them. The opposite trend can be seen with motorcycles: purely electric e-motorcycles were there first and only now is there a hybrid vehicle in series production.
The liquid-cooled four-stroke in-line two-cylinder with 450 cubic centimeters displacement of the Kawasaki Ninja 7 delivers around 60 hp. The electric motor positioned behind the cylinder heads contributes 12 additional horsepower, resulting in a system output of 70 horsepower. However, the peak performance is not permanently available, but only in the combined boost mode.
This can be interesting when overtaking and accelerating from a standstill. Kawasaki promises general performance and acceleration values in the 650/700 class up to 1000 values. You can change gears either automatically or with the help of buttons on the handlebars.
Thanks to the electric motor, there is a pushing aid that helps with maneuvering the 227 kilogram bike when it is stationary. Slow, supported pushing backwards is also possible.
Price and availability
Kawasaki has not yet announced a price for the world’s first series hybrid motorcycle.
