A 47-year-old Norman craftsman was arrested on November 15, 2022 for viewing child pornography content. And his explanation given to the police leaves something to be desired.

700 files child pornography in his computer. A 47-year-old Norman craftsman is one of the 48 men arrested November 15 and 16, 2022 across France for viewing child pornography, reports France Blue Normandy. Originally from Périgord, the forties lives in the region of Caen.

Files downloaded “by accident”

To justify the possession of such files, the man told investigators that he downloaded them “by accident”. According to his statement, it is when trying to download other files he ended up with child pornography content on his computer. After being interrogated for long hours, he was released. But the investigation is ongoing. France Blue Normandy reminds that “the import, possession or provision of child pornography images is punishable by five years in prison, and a fine of 75,000 euros”.

This major hit coordinated by the Central Office for the Suppression of Violence against Persons (OCRVP) has made it possible toarrest people with very different profiles. As the newspaper says Releasea mayor of Côte-d’Or but also “people working for Childhood Social Assistance (ASE), foster families and the companion of a member of the police” are among those arrested. They are aged 26 to 79. The Children’s Foundation notably announced on November 17, 2022 that it would “immediately become a civil party in these cases, symptomatic by their scale, the number of people arrested, nearly 50 people, and the particular resonance of such a police operation of national scope”.
