Dordogne: the body of a lifeless woman found at home, her companion hanged in a workshop


In the Dordogne, a woman was found dead at her home this Monday, May 2 in the early morning. His companion lay lifeless at the end of a rope, hanged in his studio. According to the first information, it could be a feminicide followed by a suicide.

Around 8 a.m., the police discovered the body of the 51-year-old man, hanged in his workplace first in the town of Coulouniex-Chamiers, a few kilometers from Périgueux.

Following this discovery, the police decided to check the marital home, located in Champcevinel, a village of 2,800 inhabitants near Périgueux. Upon their arrival, the investigators found the lifeless body of his companion, as reported by our colleagues from Sud-Ouest.

The criminal identification technicians (TIC) of the Dordogne gendarmerie also came to search the victim’s house.

No struggle, no mess

According to the neighborhood, the woman, 40 and mother of two, worked in her husband’s business.

“The external examination of the body made it possible to note the presence of numerous hematomas but not to determine the exact cause of death. The home was closed when help arrived and showed no sign of a struggle or disorder,” explained the prosecution.

A young boy died on Sunday following a violent attack.

Two investigations, including one for intentional homicide concerning the woman, were opened and entrusted to the research brigade of the Périgueux gendarmerie.

“The investigations must now continue to better understand both the course of events and the relationship between these two people, and the possible link between the two deaths”, informed the prosecution, relayed by the Parisian.
