Doskozil in VP-visor – accusation of passing on confidential bank information

In the scandal surrounding the Commerzialbank Matterburg, the ÖVP shoots itself at Burgenland’s governor Hans Peter Doskozil. The question is raised whether the top SPÖ politician has passed on confidential information about the bankruptcy in advance. Shortly before the bank collapse, 2.8 million euros had been fixed.

Specifically, it is about 21 withdrawals “at the last minute”. The 2.8 million euros transferred shortly before the end of the bank on July 14, 2020, had been canceled by the Financial Market Authority (FMA) the day after. “Due to abnormalities,” as the ÖVP says. “Who did the governor inform?”, Christian Sagartz, chairman of the Burgenland ÖVP, wants to know: “We ask for 13,500 injured customers.”

Prosecutor determined
Doskozil had reported, as reported, the ÖVP because of the allegation of false statements in the U-Committee on the banking scandal. His information should not coincide with those of the FMA executive board Helmut Ettl. Now the business and corruption prosecutor’s office is investigating. Doskozil and Ettl defend themselves against the allegations.

ÖVP parliamentarian Andreas Hanger is primarily concerned with why Viennese housing developers have invested large sums in the regional bank. Hanger brings the Viennese SPÖ into play and railed against SPÖ boss Pamela Rendi-Wagner, who “says nothing” about the cause.

Sweep in front of your own door
The SPÖ Burgenland strictly rejected the criticism of Doskozil: “The ÖVP should sweep its own door. Chancellor Sebastian Kurz and Finance Minister Gernot Blümel play hide and seek with the judiciary every day. “
