Doubs. A 30-year-old dies in an apartment fire in Besançon

A violent apartment fire broke out on the top level of a three-storey building, on the night of Saturday to Sunday, shortly after midnight, at 6A, rue Jean-Violet in Besançon. The neighborhood, alerted by an explosion, called the emergency services. Quickly on the scene, the firefighters evacuated the building. During reconnaissance, a man in cardio-respiratory arrest was discovered in the accommodation. Despite the care provided by the Smur team, the 32-year-old victim, who is not the tenant of the apartment, was declared dead by the doctor. Together with the rescue, the disaster was brought under control and extinguished by around twenty firefighters, at the height of the intervention, using a water hose. Residents returned to their homes after securing the site.

Undetermined causes

The causes of the tragedy are undetermined, for the moment. An investigation is underway. The experts from the departmental security of the police, on the spot for a good part of the night, “assume that the victim, burned in several places, carried a flammable product on her”, succinctly details the duty commissioner. “It is still too early to draw any conclusions. An autopsy will be performed on Monday, or Tuesday, to find out the circumstances of his death. »

The seal sheet, on the entrance door to the place where the tragedy took place, indicates “damage by dangerous means resulting in death”. “We ruled out the hypothesis of a homicide because no criminal element emerged at the scene of the death”, indicates the commissioner. “No break-ins were found. The apartment keys were inside. The victim has been identified. She is not from the Doubs and is not known to our services. “His last address, according to the magistrate on duty at the prosecution, would be in Burgundy.

The tenant, outside the region this weekend, will be heard this Monday, at the Besançon police station.
