If you want to continue recording 8K videos with the Galaxy S23 Ultra, you will have to do without an important function in the future. Samsung unexpectedly removed an important setting for the high-resolution recordings via a software update. It is the option to record 8K content in high bitrate.

As the Dutch technology website SamMobile reports, citing various user complaints in the Reddit forum, the corresponding function has not been available since a security update in June. The corresponding option is deactivated in the app, with the note “Not aviable with the current video size”. The slider of the function cannot be activated according to a video proof in the forum.

At the launch, owners of the Galaxy S23 Ultra could still use this function. However, there were repeated complaints that 8K recordings with high bitrates stuttered a lot. Maybe that’s why Samsung removed the feature for now. The company itself has not yet released a statement. It remains to be seen whether the function will be improved and later reintegrated with another update.
