The 25-year-old can climb the podium again in the first descent of the winter.

The Top 5

  • 1. Aleksander Aamodt Kilde (NOR) 1:47.98 minutes
  • 2. Daniel Hemetsberger (AUT) +0.06 seconds
  • 3. Marco Odermatt (SUI) +0.10
  • 4. Matthias Mayer (AUT) +0.37
  • 5. Beat Feuz (SUI) +0.63

Until the last split Marco Odermatt was in front and flirted with his 13th World Cup triumph. The man from Nidwalden was brilliant in the middle section and gained a lead of 0.39 seconds. But this melted away in the final part.

Others managed the finish a little better on the turbulent track. First and foremost Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, who completed the course a tenth of a second faster than Odermatt. For Odermatt, the wait for the first triumph in a World Cup downhill continues.

Feuz missed podium

Daniel Hemetsberger finished second. For the Austrian it is the 2nd World Cup podium after the 3rd place in Kitzbühel in January 2022.

Beat Feuz, who was still in the top 3 at the same place a year ago, was able to pull off a good performance, but for once didn’t follow the ideal line in the middle section and lost time. In the end he classified himself in 5th position.

The other Swiss

The comeback

Mauro Caviezel’s comeback after 652 days of injury failed. The Grisons, who had a great start to the race, did not finish his run. Caviezel contested the last race at the 2021 World Championships in Cortina. The 34-year-old missed the entirety of last season due to visual impairments that the 34-year-old suffered after a traumatic brain injury.

The moment of shock

Local hero James Crawford crossed the finish line a huge 3.43 seconds back. It was only in the repetition that it became clear why the Canadian had lost so much time: After a bump in the ground, he crossed his skis and was only able to avoid a fall in extremis.

The conditions

The bad weather prevented a competition on Friday, but the conditions were much better on Saturday. Although the sun went down around noon (local time), the track was in good condition.

The further program

Due to the postponement of the downhill on Friday, only a Super-G is on the program in Lake Louise. The race on Sunday can be seen live on SRF info from 8:15 p.m.
