Downloaded over 60 million times: Dangerous Android apps detected in the Play Store


Security researchers have discovered several apps on the Google Play Store that put Android users at risk. Because behind these hide malicious applications. These have already been downloaded over 60 million times.

Android users need to be wary of some apps in the Google Play Store again. As the security experts from “AppCensus” report in a detailed analysis, there are currently eleven Android apps that can spy on users. Accordingly, the apps communicate with the router, among other things, when the smartphone is registered in the home network and query the location. This happens without the consent of the Android user.

The apps also collect other data as well. For example, content that users copy and end up in the cache, as well as GPS data, emails and phone numbers. The data is apparently sent to the developers behind the apps in order to sell them to advertising companies.

However, a quick check in the Google Play Store reveals that a large part of can be found via the search.
