US President Joe Biden and his wife Dr. Jill Biden traveled to England ahead of the G7 summit in Cornwall. For a meeting with the British Prime Minister and his family, the American first lady chooses an expressive outfit – and does a lot better than her predecessor.
American President Joe Biden, 78, and his wife Dr. Jill Biden, 70, is currently in England where she will meet with Queen Elizabeth, 95, and Prime Minister Boris Johnson, 56, among others, ahead of the G7 summit in Cornwall. The whole world is looking at the county in the south-west of England: At important gatherings like these, the outfits can send strong signals.

The best example is the former First Lady of America, Melania Trump, 51, who in 2018 presented a jacket with the words “I Really Don’t Care, Do U?” For a visit to the Texas border. (Eng. I really don’t care, and you?) carried on his back. It was particularly explosive that she met children on site who were separated from their parents when they fled to America. A statement that – understandably – caused a sensation worldwide.

Dr. Jill Biden wants to bring “love” from the USA
The opposite message now has the blazer from Dr. Jill Biden. On Thursday (June 10), she and her husband will meet Boris Johnson and his newlywed Carrie Symmonds, 33, and their son Wilfred, 1. Over a dotted dress by Brandon Maxwell, Jill is wearing a black blazer from the French label Zadig & Voltaire whose back is decorated with the word “Love” embroidered in rhinestones.

The President’s wife chose this item of clothing very deliberately and – unlike her predecessor – wants to position herself for it. When a reporter asks her about the message of her outfit, the 70-year-old explains: “We bring love from America. This is a global conference and we are trying to create unity in the world […] I think that’s very important right now. That people around the world will feel a sense of unity and hope after this year of the pandemic!”

Dr. It’s not the first time Jill Biden has wore the blazer It’s not the first time that the first lady has used fashion to express herself. While visiting a vaccination center in West Virginia, she honored her dogs, Champ and Major, with an illustration of them on her Valentino bag. She also wore the blazer during her husband’s election campaign against Donald Trump in 2019 and reflected Biden’s unity agenda in fashion. The contrast to its predecessor is remarkable and the comparison of the jackets labeled on the back is obvious – love or not, that can’t be a coincidence.
