Compulsory vaccination for nurses should apply from mid-March

The federal government is apparently specifying its plans for a partial vaccination requirement. According to a media report, nurses and clinic staff must be fully vaccinated by March 15, according to the draft. According to this, people who have not been vaccinated can no longer carry out the corresponding activity.

According to information from the editorial network in Germany, the mandatory vaccination for staff in hospitals, care facilities and outpatient care services will apply from mid-March. According to this, all employees who are already working today and those who start again from January 1, 2022 should present proof of a complete corona vaccination by March 15 at the latest.

SPD general secretary Lars Klingbeil already told “ZDF” today, Friday, that the time in mid-March “makes sense” because all nursing staff could have a double vaccination by then. “And we know what the timing is,” added Klingbeil. In any case, it is “important that the facility-related vaccination requirement comes now,” emphasized the SPD politician.

According to the RND report, all those who start their care work on March 16, 2022, need the appropriate proof from the start. Employees who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons are exempt from the obligation. The draft law on the “facility-related vaccination requirement” should therefore be passed in the Bundestag by mid-December at the latest.

According to the current plans, according to the RND, the activity may no longer be carried out without proof of vaccination. Failure to comply should be treated as an administrative offense that is punishable by fines. With the change in the law, older and previously ill people in particular should be better protected against infection with the coronavirus.

In the past, Covid-19 outbreaks had occurred repeatedly in nursing homes. Several seniors died in a home in Brandenburg, and according to reports, only half of the staff was vaccinated.
