The popular US reality format “RuPaul’s Drag Race” gets a German offshoot. “Drag Race Germany” is scheduled to start in September.

RuPaul (62) has enjoyed numerous successes over the past almost 15 years with his US reality competition “RuPaul’s Drag Race”. Now the show will soon follow with an offshoot Germany. According to the Paramount+ streaming service, it should start in early September.

The new reality show is entitled “Drag Race Germany” and is therefore an official offshoot of the “Drag Race” franchise, which is already represented in various countries around the world with different formats. According to a press release, drag queens from Germany, Austria and Switzerland will compete against each other in the show. They will have to prove themselves on the show with challenges from areas such as acting, comedy or even fashion in order to have a chance of winning prize money.

There is still no more detailed information about how much the cash prize will be, who will be in the candidate field or who will moderate the format. It is now certain that “Drag Race Germany” will be available in Germany on September 5th on Paramount+. Further details are to be communicated shortly.

American actor, singer and presenter RuPaul rose to fame as a drag queen during the 1980s and 1990s. His show “RuPaul’s Drag Race”, which has been running in the USA since 2009, and he himself have since been awarded numerous Emmy Awards in different categories – including for the best reality TV competition and as the best host of a reality show.
