A 37-year-old car driver drove unbraked onto the rear of a moped on Tuesday morning in Peggau (Graz-Umwelt district), steered by a 16-year-old, and dragged the girl around 40 meters. The 16-year-old suffered serious injuries. The 37-year-old was heavily intoxicated at the time of the accident.
The car driver from the Graz-Umwelt district drove south on Brucker Straße (L121) around 8 a.m. The 16-year-old (also from the Graz area) drove in the same direction. At kilometer 32 on the road, the driver of the car touched the rear of the moped. According to initial investigations, the driver of the car may have dragged the girl around 40 meters. The emergency doctor helicopter C12 transported the moped driver with multiple fractures to the LKH Graz, children’s surgery. An alcohol test was initially not possible for the 37-year-old. His blood alcohol level was eventually determined to be severely intoxicated. The man is reported to the public prosecutor’s office in Graz and the district authority in Graz-Surroundings. His driver’s license was provisionally confiscated.
