Dragged 70 meters – train rams a car in Tyrol: driver seriously injured

Serious traffic accident Thursday morning in the Tyrolean Vils (Reutte district): A 53-year-old driver was caught and dragged with her vehicle while crossing a level crossing by a set of the Ausserfernbahn. She was flown to the Innsbruck clinic, seriously injured.

The Austrian was on the move with her car on Reuttener Strasse at around 6.45 a.m. when she collided with the train on an unguarded level crossing in the municipality of Vils. According to the police, she was dragged around 70 meters from the train in her car before the vehicle remained on the rails. She was then flown to the clinic in Innsbruck with serious injuries. The 25-year-old train driver and a controller were the only passengers on the train. You were unharmed. Significant property damage was caused to the car and the train. After the accident, Reuttener Strasse was initially closed for an hour, until 9.30 a.m. only single-lane traffic was allowed. The railway line was closed for around three hours, in the meantime a replacement rail service has been set up.
