Dragged along – car driver drove down woman and fled

On Tuesday morning, an Upper Austrian (20) left the road on Leopoldskronstrasse in the city of Salzburg, touched a traffic sign and hit a pedestrian (20) from Nigeria. She was dragged along and badly injured. Instead of helping, the driver drove away. He was caught less later in the border area between Salzburg and Upper Austria. The reason for the escape quickly became clear.

An alcohol test at the Upper Austrian showed 2.28 per mille. His driver’s license was taken from him on the spot. The driver is reported for negligent bodily harm and abandoning an injured person. His two passengers (22- and 23-year-old Upper Austrians) are also threatened with failure to provide assistance.
