A spin-off from a spin-off: Apparently, an offshoot of “Creed” is planned under the title “Drago”, which is intended to expand the “Rocky” universe.
“Rocky” fans can apparently look forward to another offshoot. As both the industry magazine “Variety” as also report “The Wrap”., a spin-off of “Creed” is being planned under the title “Drago”. “Creed” is itself an offshoot of the legendary film series with Sylvester Stallone (76).
The title already indicates that it could be about the character Viktor Drago (Florian Munteanu, 31), the son of Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren, 64). Lundgren first played the antagonist in “Rocky IV”, Munteanu was first seen in “Creed II”. Details about the story or the cast are not yet known.
A “huge fan” is writing the script
Screenwriter Robert Lawton, meanwhile, confirms to Variety that he was handpicked for the script. He approaches the matter as a “huge fan of the ‘Rocky’ franchise” and is grateful for this opportunity. According to the report, there had previously been rumors that the film production company MGM wanted to make a Drago film.
in the Conversation with The Hollywood Reporter Lundgren indicated at least at the end of 2021 that he had heard corresponding rumors. He believed that there were “talks about a complete spin-off of Drago at MGM,” he said at the time.
Meanwhile, “Creed III” is currently in the making. Michael B. Jordan (35) will not only play Adonis Creed again, but will also celebrate his directorial debut. Release is scheduled for March 2023.
