The summer period has begun and with it the season of revelations in the world of gaming. On the side ofElectronic Arts, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor thus showed itself last week and it was the turn of another flagship license of the publisher to be highlighted, namely dragon age. So far, this fourth episode developed by BioWare was simply called “The Next Dragon Age” and showed up in a teaser at the end of 2020 during the Game Awards or through a beautiful artwork the next month. Last I heard, it was “in the middle of production” last February. The studio finally gives us some news with the reveal of its title, Dragon Age: Dreadwolf.

This new adventure which will always take place on the continent of Thedas will be unveiled later this yearas shown in a blog post by BioWare. Inevitably, the fans will have recognized the nickname of Solaswhich is at the heart of the discussion.

Who is the “Dread Wolf”?

Solas, the Implacable Wolf. Some say he could be an ancient elven god, but some say no. Others say he is a traitor to his people… or a savior who now seeks to rescue them at the cost of your world. His motives are inscrutable and his methods sometimes questionable, earning him a reputation as a kind of prankster deity – a player of dark and dangerous games.

Whether you’re new to Dragon Age stories or have experienced them all, the use of Solas’ namesake undoubtedly suggests an endless array of possibilities for where things can go. But at the heart of it, like in all games past, is you. If you’re new to Dragon Age, you don’t have to worry about not having met our antagonist yet. He’ll show up properly when the time comes, but we hinted at his return when we announced #TheDreadWolfRises in 2018.
