As if players weren’t hyped enough by Dragon Ball Sparking, the English actor of San Goku adds his little grain of salt with a statement that makes a lot of noise.
After 15 years of absence, the Budokai Tenkaichi license, which marked the adolescence and childhood of many players during the PS2 era, will finally make its comeback. Expectations around Dragon Ball Sparking Zero are then enormous, and each communication shows that Bandai Namco is aware of the issues. The Japanese publisher seems to have pulled out all the stops for this revival and promises the biggest roster of characters ever seen to date. But the developers obviously didn’t see the big picture with the game’s casting.
A Dantesque story mode for Dragon Ball Sparking Zero?
The rumor has been circulating since this weekend: Dragon Ball Zero would be available on October 1st. A date which could only be provisional internally, but which would clearly fit into the tradition of the license. In Japan, all the other games in the franchise were released that month, so why not? We will undoubtedly find out during Summer Game Fest 2024, even if Bandai Namco will visibly release a new Dragon Ball Sparking Zero trailer focused on fusions before then. In the meantime, Sean Schemmel, English voice of Goku, has gone there with his little tease promising ever more enormous content.
In a recent video, the actor explained that he worked between 60 and 80 hours on the game. “All I can say is that you will love it,” he added. Obviously, this doesn’t mean that Goku will have as much speaking time in the final version and it in no way corresponds to the lifespan of Dragon Ball Sparking Zero. On the other hand, this little innocuous statement could suggest one thing: an even denser story mode. Bandai Namco had already confirmed that he would be back and that it would be both a continuation and an evolution of that of DBZ Tenkaichi 3. To solicit so much from the actor, the publisher probably saw things are bigger on this point too.
This statement should also reassure purists about the possible use of AI. Naruto X Boruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections was suspected of using artificial intelligence to dub certain lines of dialogue. A practice pointed out by the actors in the game’s casting. Bandai Namco had denied it, but at least Dragon Ball Sparking Zero should avoid the same controversy.
