Dragon Ball: this romantic relationship shocked fans and voice actors

The Dragon Ball series is not famous for its romantic side. However, now iconic couples have formed, such as Goku and Chichi or Vegeta and Bulma. This romance shocked fans at the time.

The film Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero landed in Japan on June 11 and its French release date is still not communicated.

While fans are stamping their feet with impatience, the series’ voice actors are promoting the film in the land of the Rising Sun.

During an interview, the actress who voices Goku, Masako Nozawa, reflected on the iconic moments of the anime series. She confessed that at the time, the Vegeta / Bulma couple shocked her a lot.

The actress had discussed it with Hiromi Tsuru, who lent her voice to Bulma and who unfortunately died in 2017. The latter was also disconcerted when she learned that her character was going to have a romance with Vegeta.

The Proud Prince of the Saiyans having an ultra volcanic and solitary temperament (the opposite of Bulma), the actors (and the fans), did not understand at the time why Akira Toriyama, author of Dragon Ball, had made the decision to put them together.

Toru Furuya, actor who doubles Yamcha, even went to complain to the creator of the saga. He didn’t understand why it wasn’t his character marrying Bulma, which would have made more sense given their personalities.

In the end, Toriyama never justified his choice and the Bulma / Vegeta couple has been stable for many years, despite their differences in temperament. They even had a son, Trunks, who played a big part in the storylines of Dragon Ball.
