It has been three years since Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is available on PC and older generation consoles. Since then, Bandai Namco has regularly provided content, in particular through a first Season Pass which has made it possible to add new characters (such as a DLC centered on Trunk from the future). As we blow out the third candle of the game on January 17, a new generation version is coming today, this Friday. Here’s what you need to know.
What’s new for Kakarot on PS5 and Xbox Series?
We thought that Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot would be behind us since its re-release on Switch, but no, it’s far from over. In addition to a new Season Pass – which is detailed below, the title benefits from a new generation version on January 13, 2023. Now available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series both digitally and physically, this version next-gen brings everything you would expect from such a version.
That is to say technical optimization and visual improvements: by taking advantage of the SSD of the new machines, the game will have faster load times and one improved framerate of up to 60fps. For the rest, it is above all a graphic enhancement, with embellished vegetation and somewhat smoothed textures, for a more pleasing result to the eye.
The good news for people who already have the game is that the upgrade is free: if you own the game on PS4/Xbox One, you can upgrade to the PS5/Xbox Series versions for free. We also learn that the card game Dragon Ball Card Warriors, which is an additional mode that was added later via a free update, will be present from launch today.
New paid content
At the same time, a Season Pass 2 is launched today. This is of course paying and will be divided into three DLCs, the first of which is deployed on January 13. The latter is called Bardock: Alone Against Fate and will focus on our hero Goku’s father. This new content brings a new narrative arc to discover and of course, the possibility of fighting with the famous bardock. Two other DLCs will arrive later in the year via this Season Pass.
The PS5 and Xbox Series versions of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot are now available for purchase, both digitally and physically, for €29.99. You can buy the game through Amazon and traditional retailers. A Deluxe Edition including the first Season Pass is also offered, as is a Legendary Edition, this time including the 2 Season Passes and additional content. For these last two editions, you have to turn to the PlayStation / Xbox stores since they are only available digitally.
