Dragon’s Breath: Is the film based on a true story?

In Le Souffle du dragon, a TV movie broadcast this Tuesday, October 11 on M6, Julie de Bona and Julie Gayet play women who row after breast cancer. But is this fiction adapted from a true story?

M6 devotes, this Tuesday, October 11, its evening to the prevention of breast cancer within the framework of Pink October. For the occasion, the TV movie Dragon’s Breath, with Julie de Bona, Julie Gayet or Firmine Richard will be broadcast at 9 p.m. These actresses embody, in this fiction, women who meet every week to practice paddling on a special canoe called a Dragon Boat. They would normally never have met in life but they all have in common to have fought against breast cancer and now aim to participate in a major international race in Norway.

This telefilm was born after the broadcast in the program Thalassa of the documentary by Sylvie Barbe, We will go to Venice. Operated for breast cancer, this director is at the origin of the creation of the very first Dragon Boat club, in France. Clément Kosch, the director of dragon’s breath, was inspired by his story to write the TV movie broadcast this Tuesday, October 11 on M6. In addition, many Dragon Boat clubs have emerged in recent years in France. The practice of this sport allows women affected by breast cancer to build muscle gently and thus fight the disease and prevent recurrence.

Julie Gayet on the set: “I have sciatica that woke up”

Julie Gayet plays one of the women affected by breast cancer in Dragon’s Breath. The former first lady confided in this shoot to our colleagues from Télé Loisirs. “It was not easy: we spent eight hours in a row on this unstable boat. I even have sciatica which woke up and I discovered a muscle in my buttocks that I did not know! But I I was transcended. With Julie de Bona, we were at the front of the boat. And since competition is in our blood, we really wanted to win! It was very physical, we had to keep an overall balance, but we all succeeded to become one”explains the actress.
