Dragon’s Dogma 2: its director is against a feature very present in open worlds

Next March, Capcom will launch Dragon’s Dogma 2, a Action RPG highly anticipated by fans of the first part. A title that will immerse us in a universe of medieval fantasy open world, but its director recently expressed his opinion regarding a feature very present in this type of game.

In an interview given to IGN, Hideaki Itsuno dwelled at length on fast movement in games in open world, which allow you to travel from one point to another without crowding. A feature that will obviously be present in Dragon’s Dogma 2, but Hideaki Itsuno reminds that players will not be able to abuse it, as in the first part. Anyway, there will always be things to discover :

Try it. Is traveling boring? This is not true. This is only a problem because your game is boring. All you have to do is make the trip fun. That’s why you place things in the right place for players to discover, or invent methods of enemy spawns that create different experiences each time, or force players into blind situations where they don’t know whether or not it’s safe ten meters in front of them.

We spent a lot of time designing a game where you can bump into someone and something will happen. So while fast travel is okay, we decided to design the type of map where players decide for themselves whether to move on mount or on foot to enjoy the journey.

If almost all games in open world offer fast, often unlimited travel, some titles have managed to make their world so exciting and rich in detail that players prefer to make the journey on horseback or on foot, as in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild And Tears of the Kingdom Or Elden Ring. Dragon’s Dogma 2 will it be as exciting as these two titles? Answer on March 22, release date of the game on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series[S. Vous pouvez le précommander à partir de 58,49 € sur Amazon, la Fnac et Gamesplanet.
