Dragon’s Dogma 2 showed up at the Tokyo Game Show and already promises to be Dantean. It even promises to be epic, but there is a catch.
Capcom shined at the Tokyo Game Show. In addition to providing news about Monster Hunter and presenting in detail the new features regarding Resident Evil 4 Remake, the publisher offered us new visuals of Dragon’s Dogma 2. The highly anticipated RPG came to show us a little of what he has it in his stomach. One thing is certain, we will not be disoriented.
Dragon’s Dogma, an RPG unlike any other
Dragon’s Dogma was in its time a somewhat special open-world RPG. If it took the AAA codes of its time to the letter, the game was above all renowned for being very action-oriented, for offering fluid gameplay and above all gigantic clashes. Most of the creatures that one must face in the game, all from myths and legends, are generally disproportionate. Hydras, griffins, chimeras, dragons, cyclops… mostly titanic monsters that you could actually climb on. Another special feature of the game was the possibility of building a group with AI companions created from scratch. We could create a partner ourselves, but also ask for help from those created by other players. These minions then gained experience each time they roamed with other players. And guess what, all these features will be back in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 promises something heavy, but still disappoints a little.
In any case, this is what this new gameplay sequence lets us see which, in addition to going through the different mechanics mentioned above, presents us with some of its classes. Thief, warrior, archer, mage… we even get a glimpse of some more advanced classes like the mage-archer, for example. Early fans will not be disoriented since most of these classes were already available in the first opus. Moreover, the bestiary also seems to come straight out of the first game. We see, among other things, goblins, a cyclops and even a chimera. Dragon’s Dogma 2 seems to be hiding its game and playing it safe, hoping that it won’t get bogged down in a simple repetition with this long-awaited second episode. For now, while the game is certainly salivating and early fans can’t wait to get started, many players are still a little unsatisfied. So to see.
The game will be available on PS5, Xbox Series and PC at a still undetermined date somewhere in 2024.
