In Dragon’s Dogma 2, you could receive a penalty if you die and reload the game from a save file. This is what Capcom says about the idea behind the mechanic.

  • In Dragon’s Dogma 2, the developers penalize reloading the last autosave.
  • You must choose between the penalty or a resurrection point.
  • There is only one storage space.

In Dragon’s Dogma 2 you can choose between different classes such as Warmaster or Illusionist to fight strong monsters. In many games, fans save buffers so that they can restart at the same point in the event of death.

However, according to thegamer, Capcom is trying to prevent that. In the upcoming game you will have to decide between two variants in addition to just one storage space.

After your character’s death, you should be able to accept the punishment of a limited maximum health when reloading the last autosave (“automatic save point”) or you have to run back from a safe place.

In an interview with Game Informer, studio boss Hideaki Itsuno defended this idea as a way to promote exploration. The intention is said to have been to make players think carefully about their actions.

You can decide whether you accept the penalty or go back from March 22nd. The title will then appear for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. If you are looking for more upcoming games, then you should take a look at our game release list.
