Drama in Switzerland – mountaineer (37) from Salzburg had a fatal accident

A mountaineer from Austria had a fatal accident on Wednesday at the Combin du Valsorey in Lower Valais in Switzerland in a 250-meter fall. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Vienna confirmed the death of the man from Salzburg.

The 37-year-old slipped on the descent at an altitude of about 4,000 meters and fell 250 meters. The victim’s companion alerted the rescue workers, as the Valais canton police announced on Thursday. However, these could only determine the death of the climber. The public prosecutor has opened an investigation.

At 4,184 meters, the Combin du Valsorey is the second highest peak in the Grand Combin massif. It is located in the commune of Bourg-St-Pierre.
