Dramatic scenes – after heavy rain: flooding in the south of the country

After torrential rain, there were numerous fire brigade operations in southern Burgenland on Saturday. The “Krone” was there.

Suddenly heavy rain with rainfall of 60 liters per square meter and hour led to numerous fire brigade operations in southern Burgenland late on Saturday afternoon. The Florianijünger in Tauka in the Jennersdorf district were particularly challenged. Around 4 p.m., so much rain fell within a few minutes that entire streets were under water. Numerous houses and cellars had to be pumped out. The situation in Rauchwart Bergen in the Güssing district was similarly dramatic. There, the water masses even penetrated the doors of some houses. The Rauchwart and Stegersbach fire brigades were in action.
