Dreame L10s Ultra review: our opinion on this versatile robot vacuum cleaner

The Dreame L10S Ultra is a robot vacuum cleaner, the concept is simple to understand: it vacuums for you and washes the floors, whether you are there or not. The latter is particularly complete, we explain why.

Before reading this test, if you have a small interior with carpet, go your way. You will find better and cheaper in your case. The DreameBot (or Dreame) L10s Ultra takes up space, with its enormous base station and, above all, it cleans floors. Which means if you have a hard floor and a lot of surface area, you might have found the robot vacuum for you. In any case, you can read this test.

Dreame L10s UltraDesign: solid design

High-end requires, the L10s Ultra is a complete kit with a large base. The robot vacuum cleaner has a round shape, like most vacuum and floor mopping robots. First of all, it has strong suction power, up to 5300 Pa, and a decent battery capacity of 5200 mAh. In silent mode, the DreameBot L10s Ultra can theoretically run for up to 3 hours and 30 minutes, without having to charge.

On top of the Dreame L10s Ultra are the lasers, slightly offset to the front of the robot vacuum and mop. This allows the Dreame L10s Ultra to orient itself in space. In addition to laser navigation, a front-mounted camera brings some AI functions that we will discuss later.

This robot vacuum and mop is 9.7 centimeters high and therefore does not pass under very low furniture, however, it is in the average of robot vacuum cleaners.

There are also three buttons that allow you to activate zone cleaning, start cleaning and return the robot to its base. Finally, it’s always better to install the dedicated application and manage everything from your smartphone, so you will have all the functions.

Under the Dreame L10s Ultra, we see an all-rubber main roller, in addition to a simple side brush (on the left). The roller makes it possible to avoid entangling animal weights, even if you are advised to regularly check the condition of this roller, which is often the first part to be damaged. Remember to remove the hair every month. There are also two discs for mops, they are used to clean the floor, they can rotate 180 times per minute.

The bumper allows the detection of obstacles and walls, there is also a sensor to detect carpets. It allows the robot to detect the presence of a rug or carpet in advance, which raises the discs so that the carpet can be vacuumed without getting it wet.

The station included with the Dreame L10s Ultra empties the dust bin into a 3.5 liter space (one disposable bag) and automatically cleans the robot’s wiping discs. We would have liked to be able to do without the disposable bag with HEPA filter, nevertheless it ensures that dust and particles do not end up in the air when emptying the vacuum cleaner.

The station dries the wipes, it is designed to prevent the development of bad odors, the formation of mold and other very happy things. This base also includes two water tanks: the first of 2.5 liters for clean water and a second of 2.4 liters for dirty water. As explained above, this makes the whole thing very massive. Between the two tanks there is a small compartment in which the bottle of detergent (included) is inserted. Note that you cannot fill the robot vacuum cleaner with water, it is the base that automatically fills it with each pass.

Dreame L10s UltraA quick setup

The Dreame L10s Ultra works in conjunction with two applications, you have the choice between the two. One is Xiaomi Mi Home, Dreame being an integrated Mi ecosystem partner, the other is the dedicated app.

The configuration is very simple, it will require no more than 10 minutes. Once the application is installed, the user account created, a few steps allow you to detect the robot vacuum cleaner and connect the Wi-Fi to it. You can then launch a first pass which will be done in absolute silence: this pass allows you to map your house, so let the robot roam everywhere. Even on a large area, more than 120 m², it takes little time, because the robot vacuum just aims to detect rooms well.

A first map appears, you can then cut out the rooms, add names to them, but also discover a summary 3D view (it recognizes furniture, but it’s very basic). This view is impressive, however it is useless.

The management of 2D maps is very complete and there is also the possibility of mapping several floors, a useful feature if you have several houses or several levels in the same house. You can define the subdivision of rooms, insert virtual walls, forbidden areas and no-wash zones.

By the way, during setup, you are asked if you have any pets. You will see that it is very useful to enter exact data.

Finally, this product is compatible with Amazon Alexa, Google Home (Assistant) and Apple Siri. It has the full pack of connected home assistant ecosystems.

Dreame L10s UltraPerformance worth the price

Suction

Let’s already talk about its main mission: the L10s Ultra is doing like a boss. Instead of running like pool robots bumping around, bouncing off walls in random directions, the L10s Ultra is methodical. It moves back and forth along parallel lines to get the job done. Even chair legs don’t frighten him, he walks around them carefully. Even the dog food bowls in the kitchen are spared. It can circulate on uneven ground, thick carpets, rugs too… it adapts very well to its environment.

This robot vacuum does its job perfectly. He knows how to detect areas that require several passages, he does not forget the corners and does his job carefully. However, we would have liked to have two side brushes (with three tips), it would have been more effective. Regarding noise pollution, count about 55 to 65 dB on carpet or PVC tiles. It’s moderately loud and on par with other robot vacuums we’ve tried. You have three levels of suction, the first is really inaudible (for a vacuum cleaner).

I live with two dogs and two cats, found it effective with pet hair (and yet there’s a lot here, especially during the Shiba’s moult). The longer ones might still get tangled around the brush, but in most cases it works well and doesn’t tangle.

It can get stuck under furniture or try to suck up a loose sock, but this is quite rare. In any case, it will not do it twice: it identifies and memorizes dangerous locations to avoid being trapped a second time. Not stupid. The wheels allow him to pass over thick carpets, they also allow him to get out of perilous situations (with the legs of armchairs or chairs).

Cables, socks… classic in a house // Source: Frandroid

The identification by AI, the one that uses the RGB camera, aims to recognize annoying objects and thus ensures improved navigation. This is especially useful for pet owners. Here, the robot vacuum and mop automatically recognizes animal waste and avoids it instead of spreading it everywhere, you are not drawn. Concretely, it works, but it detects droppings everywhere… even instead of a tuft of cat hair, or even a dead leaf.

However, it does recognize cables, shoes… and you have photos that appear in the application. It’s really well thought out, it’s similar to the behavior of the Roborock S6 MaxV.

Washing

The Dreame L10S Ultra unquestionably innovates in terms of washing, it is inspired by the W10. It’s not just a mop mode. The two rotating discs reach 180 revolutions per minute and are literally pushed towards the ground. This action, combined with water and detergent, leaves a clean floor. The ability to adjust the amount of water used is useful for parquet owners, to avoid scratches. However, these rotating discs cannot pass close to walls, leaving an uncleaned strip along the walls. This system proves to be more effective than the simple wipe, but less efficient than the dedicated cleaning robots.

After its passage, when cleaning the cloths and drying, the base makes a lot of noise. Indeed, we hear the removal and replacement of water, the noise of the fan and the rotation of the cloths. It will therefore be necessary to place the base in a room where it can make noise quietly.

Finally, nothing to complain about autonomy. With its strong suction and additional washing, it is not the champion of autonomy. Nevertheless, he does many more things than the others and, above all, he knows how to manage himself. It will take charge to finish the tasks given to it. Although it takes four hours to fully charge, it charges quickly at first, so it can finish what it needs to do quickly.

Surveillance

Finally, being that it is equipped with a camera, you have a function that allows you to monitor your home remotely. You can remotely pick up the robot and walk around, with a microphone to listen in too. When you activate this function, the robot announces that it is filming… so it’s not discreet and it’s done so as not to be a surprise for those who are filmed without their knowledge.

Dreame L10s UltraA demanding interview

Who says washing, says more demanding maintenance. Already, know that the base takes care of the maintenance of mops. It also makes noise, as explained above, they are rinsed and dried with hot air. You can remove these mops and machine wash them at 60°C. We recommend that you do this every month.

In the recovery tanks, it will be necessary to think of cleaning well that which recovers the water. To prevent bad things from growing in it and creating a heady smell that you don’t want.

In addition, the base should be cleaned regularly. This is where the brushes are cleaned, which requires regular manual cleaning. Especially since with her white dress, it will quickly get dirty. After five washes, check the condition of the base below. Everything is planned to be cleaned without taking the lead.

Also remember to check the condition of the HEPA filter in the robot, as well as replace the disposable bag in the base.

The Dreame L10S Ultra was designed to save us time with all the drip trays and self-cleaning functions, but it still requires regular manual actions to avoid unpleasant surprises.

Dreame L10s UltraPrice and availability

The L10s Ultra is sold at 1,199 euros. It seems expensive, but it’s less than some of its competitors, including iRobot. Among the competitors, there is the Roborock S7 Pro Ultra, or the Ecovacs Deebot X1 Omni.
