Dredge: good news for fans who want more

Last March, Team17 And Black Salt Games launched Dredge, a fishing adventure game in a boat, which above all allowed us to discover a very Lovecraftian scenario. A very successful title which has obviously received very good ratings, the developers have released several free updates, but it is far from over.

As expected, Dredge will be entitled to a paid extensionwhich was just revealed this week. The Pale Reach will take us to navigate a new completely frozen biome, it will be necessary to use new pieces of equipment on the boat to break the ice and catch no less than 11 new fish and crabs. Obviously, there will also be a new quest, set against the backdrop of a cursed expedition. Nadia Thorne, producer at Black Salt Gamesdetails all this on the blog PlayStation :

Today we’re excited to announce The Pale Reach, the first official expansion for Dredge.

About six months ago we weighed anchor on the release of Dredge, and your response was nothing short of amazing. Players loved diving into our atmospheric world, where supernatural horrors cast their shadows over the life of a fisherman from a forgotten town. Over the past few months, our small team has worked to improve the Dredge experience by adding features, ever more monstrous and majestic wonders, and practical improvements through free updates.

Dredge: The Pale Reach offers players a new environment, an icy and pristine biome that awaits the most intrepid of explorers. Those who access this icy expanse will embark on a journey through frosty canyons. During their journeys, they will retrace the route of an expedition forgotten by all to reveal the destiny of those who ventured thus far. To break the relentless ice of this polar biome and navigate its depths, players will need to upgrade their ship with specialized equipment.

However, Dredge’s world is submerged by a malevolent undercurrent that corrupts the nature of his sinister designs. Will those who dare to venture into The Pale Reach succeed in ending a historic betrayal? Can they stop the invasion of darkness in time?

Featuring new story content, The Pale Reach features 11 new species of fish and crabs (not to mention their corresponding aberrations), as well as an entirely new type of fish. You can also access a new item that will allow you to prolong the freshness of your catches, wherever you fish.

From the beginning of Dredge’s design, we wanted to create a freezing biome, but other environments seemed more suited to the story we wanted to tell and the time we had to complete the game. After the game’s release, it has become the most requested biome by players. Players wondered what such an environment might look like, going so far as to create fan art inspired by it. We are delighted to be able to make this idea a reality.

The Pale Reach releases on November 16, and we hope players enjoy this icy expansion to the world of Dredge. But we don’t intend to stop there. We’re already working on the next planned expansion, The Iron Rig, and hope to be able to tell you more very soon!

In the meantime, keep your eyes peeled for the glaciers.

As the producer explains, the release date of The Pale Reach is set for November 16, 2023 in Dredge on PC, PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch. And above all, fans will have another extension, The Iron Rig, to be discovered later. You can find Dredge from €21.24 on Amazon, GOG.com And Gamesplanet.
