Dresden debacle against Hansa
Gigantic Glatzel makes Hamburg dream

The best second division of all time gives football fans a splendid Sunday. Hamburg striker Robert Glatzel has scored three times against Darmstadt after only 13 minutes of play. After the 5-0 at the Böllenfalltor, only two points separate the first six clubs. Dynamo Dresden goes down against Rostock.

SV Darmstadt 98 – Hamburger SV 0:5 (0:3)

Robert Glatzel’s record hat-trick turned the promotion race of the 2nd Bundesliga into a mass event. Hamburger SV’s 5-0 (3-0) on matchday 21 at leaders Darmstadt 98 separated the first team from sixth place (1. FC Heidenheim) by only two points – HSV is also only two points behind Darmstadt.

Hamburg striker Glatzel scored with a penalty kick (5th), with a head (10th) and with a foot (13th). The 1000 spectators allowed at the Böllenfalltor experienced a second division record. Like Nils Petersen (SC Freiburg) and Hans Haunstein (1860 Munich), the 28-year-old Glatzel was successful three times in a row from kick-off to the 13th minute. In addition, Manuel Wintzheimer (76th) and shortly before the end again Glatzel (88th) met for HSV

There were 7:45 minutes between the first and third Glatzel goal, which, however, was not a record. The record for the fastest hat trick in the second division is held by Helmut Hampl (Hessen Kassel/1983) and Werner Lenz (Union Solingen/1979). Both scored three times in four minutes. Although Glatzel needed longer, he brought HSV quickly onto the road to victory. The guests dominated the first round and could have led even higher at the break. In the second half, Darmstadt braced themselves against the impending defeat, but despite good chances it wasn’t enough. Instead, Wintzheimer increased.

Holstein Kiel – Fortuna Dusseldorf 1: 0 (0: 0)

Fortuna Düsseldorf has missed the urgently needed liberation in the 2nd Bundesliga. The Rhinelanders lost 0:1 (0:0) at Holstein Kiel despite their initial superiority, it was the fourth bankruptcy in a row. Jonas Sterner (90+3) scored the winning goal for the North Germans.

The Dusseldorf team are on par with SV Sandhausen, which occupies relegation place 16. In the second half of the season, Fortuna is still waiting for a goal. In an uneventful and uneventful game, Düsseldorf would have deserved the win, but Fortuna missed some good opportunities in the first round. Robert Bozenik (20′) was initially denied by Holstein goalkeeper Thomas Dähne, then he shot wide of the goal from almost ten meters (37′).

Kiel couldn’t assert themselves offensively in the first half, and things didn’t get any better in the second half either. Inaccuracies and many duels shaped the picture. Both teams struggled, but lacked pace and ideas. The passes were often intercepted well before the danger zone. Crosses and free kicks sailed out in rows. Sterner then redeemed the people of Kiel with his last-minute goal.

Dynamo Dresden – Hansa Rostock 1: 4 (0: 4)

After a memorable beating, Dynamo Dresden slipped deeper into the relegation battle of the 2nd Bundesliga. In the Eastern duel of the promoted team, the Saxons lost 1:4 (0:4) against Hansa Rostock on Sunday after a shockingly weak initial phase. With 24 points, Dynamo has a four-point lead over relegation place 16.

John Verhoek (6th/18th) and Nils Fröling (10th/13th) scored the hosts early goals in front of 10,000 spectators. Julius Kade (63rd) reduced the lead in the second round. Meanwhile, Dynamo has not won four league games in a row. Meanwhile, Hansa celebrated their first success after seven games without a win. The Rostockers even passed the Dresdeners who had the same number of points in the table.

In the first round, Hansa initially rolled over Dynamo with almost no resistance, Verhoek and Fröling quickly headed the guests into the lead – and had tasted blood. First Fröling pushed a dust-off over the line before Verhoek was successful again with a header. Rostock could have led even higher, but Dynamo goalkeeper Anton Mitryuschkin saved his indisposed defense several times.

Dynamo coach Alexander Schmidt switched to a back three and made two changes after 24 minutes, Vaclav Drchal and Sebastian Mai came on. And Dresden caught on, became more dangerous. Oliver Batista-Meier (33rd) failed with a flick from 18 meters to Hansa keeper Markus Kolke. After the break, Dresden started more composed. Mai (51st) headed the crossbar before Kade hit the corner from 25 meters. Rostock’s Svante Ingelsson hit the post (89′).
