Drew Barrymore
She loses three writers for her show
A trio of authors no longer want to work for Drew Barrymore after the strike: The women have refused to return to the talk show.
Drew Barrymore (48) is preparing for the return of her “The Drew Barrymore Show” after the end of the Hollywood strike. The show is scheduled to air again from October 16th. However, three authors do not want to resume their work for the presenter, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
Drew Barrymore produced the show despite the strike
Last month, Barrymore faced intense backlash for continuing to produce her talk show despite the writers and actors’ strike. There were demonstrations in front of the CBS studios on the first day of production for the fourth season. The three authors were also among them. The trio of women, who shared the title of co-head writers and have been with the series since the first season, are said to have demonstrated in front of the studio for several days, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
In fact, Drew Barrymore backed down after a week in the face of criticism, saying in a statement on Instagram that she had listened to everyone and had now decided to “pause the show’s premiere until the strike is over.” She is speechless and wants to sincerely apologize to everyone she has hurt “and of course to our incredible team who works on the show and made it what it is today.”
The three authors probably did not accept the tearful apology. At least they turn down the offer to return to the show. That’s why a quick replacement is now needed: the production is currently negotiating with new authors.
